Information

Stud Services

We do offer our males for stud. Usually we require a stud fee but depending on the female, we may take pick of litter as payment - at our discretion. Females must be brought here for the breeding. They can visit every day or they can stay here and be picked up after a confirmed breeding. We have well shaded kennels with roofs to prevent jumping, reinforced chain link to prevent chewing out and water for them to stay cool. At night they may come in the house if they are house trained and good with cats.

Females must have a current Brucellosis test before breeding, as well as be current on rabies and vaccines. If interested in using a male that carries genetic diseases, females must be either clear for parentage or tested clear for the diseases the male carries. No exceptions. We do have clear males that can be bred to any female.

Stud fee for our ACDs is $300 for unregistered females, $600 for CKC registered females and $1500 for AKC registered females. We may offer Pick of Litter at our discretion if we like the female. If we are taking a stud fee, it is due upon picking up your bitch after a confirmed tie. In the case of us taking pick of litter, there is a contract that we require signed and notarized. If your female does not become bred, we offer a rebreed at no charge (If a stud fee was paid - Does not apply to pick of litter contracts.)

All of our males on our Blokes page are available for stud services unless otherwise stated. All our boys are genetic tested and their results are in their bios.

American Leopard Hounds: Stud fee is a flat $800 or POL. Our only male is a Merle so we only offer services to black/black/tan bitches at this time. We may consider reds if tested non-merle.

Black Mouth Curs: Stud fee is a flat $800 or POL. We currently do not have a male to offer to the public.

Chocolate, Slate, Lilac and Cream

We get a lot of people asking where these beautiful colors come from. Many assume they are mixed. While some people I am sure mix their dogs with other breeds such as Aussie to add these colors, they actually come from the breeds that went into creating this wonderful breed. Australian Kelpies are a breed also from Australia with similar origins. Some people state that the Kelpie breed is too new to be a true ancestor, there is no doubt of the Kelpie influence in this breed. Before the Australian Cattle Dog was deemed a breed, the Kelpie was also a breed in progress and Kelpies were crossed into the ACD to add more working ability. Kelpies come in all sorts of colors. They can be red (chocolate), blue (slate), fawn (lilac) and cream. Each of these colors are caused by a recessive gene that can be passed down for generations hidden. Both parents must carry a copy of these genes to have puppies these colors. Dalmatian also comes in all the above colors, however new research suggests that Dalmatian was never really used in the creation of the breed, but rather the collies used were where ACDs got their ticked pattern. Many people see that the collies were described as being blue merle and they picture the lovely coloration we see on Aussies. However, merle was not used to describe the same color in the past, rather merle used to describe a ticked dog. So the blue collies used in the creation were actually blue ticked. This has been confirmed.

We are careful when picking for these colors to make sure we are getting purebred dogs. Our dogs all have traceable pedigrees and are Embark tested and verified purebred.

Picking Your Puppy

We take half down deposits to hold a puppy of a specific gender. Picking order goes in order of deposit picked. I retain first pick from all litters for myself. Puppies can be pickedaround 5-6 weeks old. Puppies with underbites, overbites, kink tails, rear dew claws or other physical traits that are not desirable will absolutely not be offered to breeding homes and will be sold on spay and neuter contracts. This applies to deaf puppies as well.

Shipping

Due to the heat in Arizona, shipping via airplane can be a pain. There is no shipping out of the Tucson or Phoenix airports from May 1st to Sept 1st. On top of that, if the outside temperature at the departure, destination or any of the between stops is to over 80 degrees, puppies can not fly. Depending on the time of the year, it can be arranged. Or we know of someone who can take puppies on board planes as a passenger to get puppies to their new homes. Both of these methods cost around $600. This includes a crate, Health Certificate, Shipping Cost and fuel for us to drive the several hour trip to the airport.**

Ground shipping is also available and there is no restrictions on heat. However it can be more pricey. We are currently looking for a ground shipper or a horse hauler who is willing to haul pups for a decent rate. If anyone knows of one, please contact us.

Raising Puppies

We raise puppies the best way we know how. Our dogs all live in the house except when we have to leave somewhere they cant go, at which point some are loose in the house, some are crated inside and some go in their outside kennels. Our kennels are shaded and cool and have a large tub for them to lay in as well as a bucket of fresh water. Some of the kennels even have a misting system. When mama's are ready to whelp though, they come inside. They have their puppies next to our bed where we can watch them. At 2 weeks old they are moved out to our whelping barn, a climate controlled shed with inside/outside runs on concrete that are disinfected every other day. We handle our puppies daily since birth and take pictures weekly. All of our puppies go home confident and socialized. They are introduced to Horses, Sheep, Goats and Cattle, as well as other dogs.

We worm our puppies on a schedule, alternating between Fenbendazole and Pyrantel Pamoate and they are given Toltrazuril as a precaution. Our puppies are vaccinated with NeoPar at 3 weeks old during the hot months, then receive a 4-way vaccine by the vet at 8 weeks old.

Until further notice we are not having litters vet checked. Unfortunately we have had puppies get parvo while visiting our vet - not once, but twice. None of our puppies raised at home get parvo and puppies are checked by myself for testes, heart and

Health Testing and Registration

Our adult dogs and most of our personal puppies are genetic tested. We are slowly having OFAs performed on our dogs as well but appointments are 10-12 weeks out in most cases and can only do one dog at a time.

All of our adult dogs are registered with the exception of some new lines we have brought in
